Public Safety • Civic Renewal • Urban Freedom

Safe public spaces are not a luxury.

We are paying a daily price for unsafe cities, unclean streets, and a broken sense of belonging. It is time to demand better for every citizen.

The Cost

The crime tax on citizens we did not ask for

Why should public spaces be unsafe and unclean? Why should walking or commuting be unsafe? Are we living in a war zone, or a third world country? Or America?

Who is paying the costs for the crime in America? The answer is clear: ordinary citizens, families, workers, and taxpayers.

The cost of crime in American cities

  • Average American family pays $500 in higher prices due to retail theft [source]
  • $1,500 to $3,300 for property and violent crime [source]
  • $200 to $1,000 for homeless population impacts [source 1] [source 2]
  • $2,899 to $4,000 for federal fraud [source]
  • $1,009 for online scams [source]

What it adds up to

$6,108 to $9,809

Total average cost of crime to U.S. taxpayers in cities. A second property tax. The crime tax.

What is the cost of a human life?

The economic costs for crime are shocking but what is the real cost of a human life? Any innocent human life wasted is a crime against humanity. No one can put a price on the loss of human lives to senseless urban violence. No one will know the true pain this has caused to families and loved ones. One life lost to senseless violence on American soil is too much let alone thousands every year.

The Problem

We are paying more for crime than for law enforcement

Police funding vs. crime damage

We pay on average $250 to $750 per year in taxes for local police. We are losing $6,000 to $9,800 per person from crime each year. We pay 13 to 24 times more for the cost of crime than for police.

What families endure

Why should the middle and lower class live with fear and disgust while traveling through cities and going about daily life? Why should safety and cleanliness be paywalled, restricted to private businesses and gated communities?

The Solution

A third space that belongs to everyone

We need a third space: a place where people feel safe, at home, and relaxed. A place that serves the public, not just private wealth. Why can’t that third space be our cities and public spaces, the places our taxes pay for?

The future of our cities must be built around safety, dignity, cleanliness, and shared belonging. That is not too much to ask. It is the minimum standard of civic life.

Proposed Solution

Violence, Cleanliness, and Fraud

Violence, Theft & Crime

  • Public spaces have become hunting grounds for criminals, we need to protect public spaces for law abiding citizens and promote public safety so that every citizen can feel safe and comfortable in public.
  • Violent offenders, drug dealers, thieves and sexual offenders should be banned from public transit and public parks for a period decided by the courts overseeing their offenses to the people.
  • Violent offenders, drug dealers, thieves and sexual offenders should have to submit their information to a public facing database where community members can easily identify them based on their crimes without a background check.
  • Career criminals should be eligible to have their citizenship revoked as they are too dangerous to even house in prison, and studies show that the majority of crimes are committed by a small percentage of repeat offenders.
  • Businesses should be allowed to refuse service to any offender based on their crimes.

Cleanliness and Disease

  • The cleanliness level of our cities is unacceptable.
  • Citizens that are chronically homeless do not pay taxes, and do not contribute to the system. However, their existence costs tax payers thousands of dollars each year in free medical treatment and free housings.
  • On top of this they are disease vectors and high risks for violence and theft.
  • Its time to get tough and take off the kid gloves.
  • Americans are suffering and our debt is growing while we continue to pay for non contributing members of society.
  • Should working families be forced to lose thousands of dollars a year to take care of the homeless while they can't contribute to their retirement funds or their children's future?
  • In the Bible it clearly states, “if you don’t work you don’t eat.” 2 Thessalonians 3:10
  • Taking care of the homeless should be a personal choice not a cost to all tax payers without their consent.

Fraud and Scams

  • The majority of theft happening today is not happening in person, it is happening remotely through online scams and fraud.
  • The FBI provides the IC3 resource to track fraud and scams, however this is just a database. It is not used to prosecute criminals or recover funds.
  • Thieves and criminals have even created a new class of scam: scam recovery scams, where they post a false website claiming to recover your money from a scam and then scam you twice.
  • Law enforcement has no response to this.
  • The FBI and other institutions provide no resources to help scam and fraud victims.
  • Americans are left defenseless against this new generation of theft, and the thieves are robbing the people blind while we pay taxes to house criminals and put them back on the streets.
  • We are seeing the middle class being robbed of their wealth and lower class being robbed of their dreams.
  • We need dedicated resources and certified cyber warriors to rise up and become authorized to protect the people.
  • We need a dedicated public facing database where the public can see information on scammers and fraudsters in our country.
  • If you commit scams or fraud you should not be able to hide behind the internet. Your face and name should be known to the public.
  • Third party review websites for online scams have become a pay to play operation for scammers and deceptive business practices. Third party review sites should be overseen by the public and become open sourced and transparent to the public.
